Benedict Wong joins Marvel's 'Doctor Strange'

"The Martian" star Benedict Wong has joined the cast of "Doctor Strange" and will play a trusty sidekick to the good doctor Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch).

In the Marvel comics, the character is a Chinese monk, martial artist and healer who loyally serves the Sorcerer Supreme, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Besides Cumberbatch and Wong, the film also stars Tilda Swinton, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams and Mads Mikkelsen.

Wong most recently starred in Ridley Scott's "The Martian" and also appeared in Prometheus. He plays Kublai Khan in Netflix's "Marco Polo", too.

Doctor Strange will arrive in UK cinemas on October 28, 2016, and opens in the US on November 4, 2016.
