West Bengal Industry Minister Amit Mitra today expressed confidence that the state will attain first position in attracting industry in the next two years.
Replying to questions in the Assembly, Mitra said the way West Bengal was moving ahead in industrialisation since the new Trinamool government had taken over, it was only matter of two years before the state achieved the number one position in attracting investment.
The minister said some 296 investment proposals attracting Rs 78,360 crore was either in the process of implementation or were being implemented.

Speaking about hurdles pertaining to 14Y of the Land Ceiling Act for companies, Mitra said clearance had been offered to 14 large companies where a total of 7,649 acres had been allotted which would attract investments of around Rs 49,970 crore.
Meanwhile, Mitra said the Future Group would set up a food processing park in Kharagpur, which would entail an investment of Rs 550 crore.
