West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh here today and they were believed to have discuss the stalemate in the Darjeeling Hills, according to party sources.

"Ghosh, along with Union minister and Darjeeling MP S S Ahluwalia and BJP's West Bengal organisational secretary Subrata Chatterjee, met the home minister to discuss the continuing crisis in Darjeeling," one of the sources said.

Last Friday, Ahluwalia accompanied a five-member delegation of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM), spearheading the agitation for a separate Gorkhaland state in the hills, to the home minister.

They have sought central intervention in ending the crisis.

The GJM alleged that the state government "unleashed police atrocities in the name of law and order and was trying to suppress the democratic agitation" in Darjeeling.

The region has been in a state of turmoil for over three months, with the GJM spearheading an indefinite strike to press their demand for a separate Gorkhaland state.
