BJP has met West Bengal Governor K N Tripathi telling him that there has been a "partial collapse" of law and order in the state and urged him to send a report to the Centre, party's state unit chief Dilip Ghosh said today.
Ghosh, who was addressing media after conclusion of the two-day BJP state unit working committee meeting here, said there had been "partial collapse" of law and order situation in the Trinamool Congress-ruled state as recent incidents suggested.
"We had met the Governor and urged him to send a report to the Centre at the earliest," Ghosh said.
Saying democracy is under threat in West Bengal, the BJP leader said they will organise intense agitation across the state over the next one month.
The agitation programme will be built up with slogans like 'save democracy', 'save Bengal', 'save sankriti (culture)', he said.
While from tomorrow till January 30, there will be agitation programmes in different blocks, there will be a "law violation programmes' and big meeting on February 6 in Kolkata, he said.
He said the party is suspicious about the state administration granting permission to hold the February-6 meeting in Sahid Minar Maidan area but they are determined to hold the protest, he said.
Ghosh said there will be rallies at booth level in different parts and the party was strengthening its rural units in Bengal and getting positive feedback from people who were "disgruntled" with the ruling party.
He expressed satisfaction over CBI probe into Rose Valley chit fund "scam" and said the agency will unearth the entire truth.
To a question on Aligarh Muslim University, Murshidabad campus, Ghosh said, "We want it to be shut as there had been reports of anti-national slogans raised on this campus."
Yesterday BJP General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya and union MoS Babul Supriyo attended the deliberations.
