Kolkata Police has rescued one minor girl from Mumbai and busted a trafficking racket from there, a senior officer of the Force said Wednesday.

The girl's abductor has been also arrested from Mumbai.

The girl's mother lodged a complaint in a city police station on November 20 that her daughter was abducted by a youth named Ramjan Khan.

"The accused Ramjan had befriended

with the minor earlier this year when she had visited her elder sister who lives in Mumbai after her marriage," he said adding that electronic surveillance revealed that Ramjan was a resident of Mumbai.

"We understood that the accused could be a member of a trafficking racket and there was every possibility that the minor girl has been trafficked. A team went to Maharashtra and with the help of Mumbai Police, Ramjan was arrested from Kalyan on Monday," the officer said.

The minor girl was rescued from his house.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Ramjan is originally from Lucknow and is a part of a big trafficking racket, he said.

Ramjan has been brought to the city on transit remand, the IPS officer said.
