To support the Bengali television industry, the state government today said it would build a TV studio and provide free medical insurance facility to ailing television artistes and technicians.
"Those who work in the television medium and are not in a good financial situation to afford medical treatment will get free treatment under the mediclaim," Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said at the first edition of West Bengal Telly Samman awards.
She said they have also set aside a a six-acre plot of land at Baruipur in South-24 Parganas district where a studio exclusively for shooting television serials would be built.
Last year, the government had started similar mediclaim scheme for film artistes and technicians.
