Bengal government trying to solve Jessop crisis: Minister

The West Bengal government is trying to solve the crisis in the Jessop company through tripartite meetings, according to state's Labour Minister Purnendu Basu.

Basu told the Assembly while answering a question of MLA Nirmal Ghosh that the Labour Department was looking into all aspects of the crisis in the premier engineering company including the process of handing over of documents.

The company had given a suspension of work notice a few months back.

Basu said the state government was providing labour allowance of Rs 1,500 every month to the workers of the company.

Regarding Dunlop factory, the Minister said the matter was pending before the court.
