West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi today paid homage to Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya on his 155th birth anniversary today.
"Today 25th December 2016 is the 155th birth Anniversary of Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya. He is one of those great sons of India, who were the standard-bearers of the spirit of Nationalism in pre-independent India," Tripathi said in his message released from the Raj Bhawan today.
"He was the founder-architect of the famed Banaras Hindu University. On this auspicious occasion I pay homage in his memory," he said.
Born on this day in 1861, Madan Mohan Malaviya was an educationist and politician who played a pivotal role in the Indian independence movement. He was twice the president of Indian National Congress.
