Taking a tough stand against the bandh called by Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) in Darjeeling on September 28, the West Bengal government today asked its employees to report for duty or face show cause notice.
A memorandum issued to government employees said it has been decided that all state government offices situated in that area including those provided with grants-in-aid by the state government would remain open and all employees should report for duty on that date.
It has also been decided that no leave shall be granted to any employee on the bandh day and also on the next working day.

Those who would not respond to the show cause notice would be liable for disciplinary action, the order said, adding that absence of employees on that date would be treated as 'dies non' and no salary would be admissible.
An exception would, however, be made for those going on child care leave, maternity leave, earned leave, etc sanctioned before the date of issuance of this order, it said.
