The West Bengal government has formed a 12-member education commission for a vision document 2020 to improve the standard of education in the state.
The panel would review courses, programmes and syllabus to suggest changes in keeping with the latest trends, nationally and internationally, and changes in the learning appraisal methodologies, a state government notification said here today.
The vision document would cover elementary, secondary, higher secondary, higher education, mass education, technical and vocational education, non-formal education and madrasah education.

It would also suggest measures including financial and other incentives to attract private investment in the education sector and turn the state into a major educational hub of the country.
The commission would also study the existing system of administrative practices, procedures and suggest steps to overhaul them.
The commission has been asked to submit the interim report in six months and the full report in a year's time.
