West Bengal Irrigation Minister Rajib Banerjee today clarified that water would be supplied to farmers for bodo crop and action would be taken if any contrarion announcement was made by any official earlier.
"Irrigation water will be provided to farmers for their bodo crop from January 31. This is the government position," Banerjee told reporters here.
When his attention was drawn to the earlier announcent by Burdwan Divisional Commissioner Reena Venkatraman that no such water would be provided in four districts, the minister said "I do not know on what basis such wrong announcement was made."
"Explanation will be sought from the official if such wrong announcement was made by her," he said.
