West Bengal Governor M K Narayanan today said he did not favour the division of West Bengal by creating a separate state as demanded by Gorkha Janmukti Morcha.

"We can't allow the state to be divided. It's unfortunate that an attempt is being made by a section to divide the state," he said expressing concern over the situation arising out of the movement for creation of a separate state in the Darjeeling hills.

He said Darjeeling is an inseparable part of West Bengal stretching from the ocean to the hills and by separating a part and calling the remainder the West Bengal is not justified.

"Hope we could be able to resolve the issue," the Governor said after a function near E M By-Pass.
