Bengal minister leads procession on Kishore Kumar birthday

West Bengal minister Laxmi Ratan Shukla led a procession on Kishore Kumar's 88th birthday today demanding that the legendary singer be posthumously conferred Bharat Ratna for his contribution to music.

Shukla, the minister-of-state for sports and former cricketer, said, "We have already approached the Centre regarding this."

The Salkia Kishore Kumar Memorial Cultural Association took out the procession from Esplanade area in the metropolis to Salkia in Howrah town in the morning.

Shukla is also the convenor of the association.

Kishore Kumar's evergreen Hindi and Bengali songs were played during the rally.
