Bengal's leading international cricket umpire Subrata Banerjee died here today.
Treasurer of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) Biswarup Dey said Banerjee died at the age of 71 at a South Kolkata hospital after battling cancer.
Banerjee is survived by his wife and two daughters.

He had officiated the maximum number of one day international matches from Bengal. Banerjee was one of the youngest umpires in the country who officiated a Ranji Trophy match when he was only 22 years old.
Banerjee officiated altogether 64 first class matches and one Test Match (Women's) in 1995.
After retiring from umpiring, Banerjee took up roles of being BCCI match referee, BCCI Umpire Coach and BCCI Umpires' Educator.
He had also served the CAB as the chairman of Umpire's Committee and as member of the Cricket Committee, Dey added.
