Bengal tops medal list of G V Mavalankar Shooting Championship

Host West Bengal topped the medals tally of the 23rd All India G V Mavalankar Shooting Championship which concluded at the Chandmari Range, here today.

It is for the first time that Bengal has topped the medal table of national level shooting championship.

Shooters from Bengal won five gold, five silver and a bronze at the 10-day long championships.

Maharashtra was second with four gold, five silver and three bronze medals while Chandigarh grabbed three gold, one silver and one bronze medal, finishing third on the chart.

In all 1400 shooters from 15 states and military and para-military forces participated in 72 events in four categories - boys, girls, men and women.
 

More than 500 shooters have qualified for the national meet to be held in Delhi from December 11, said D V Seetharam Rao, Secretary General NRI (Delhi).
