Bengal transport department to start helicopter services

West Bengal transport department is all set to start helicopter services from Kolkata to Gangasagar and other parts of the state, transport minister Madan Mitra today said.

"We are starting helicopter services to Gangasagar, Durgapur, Shantiniketan and Malda and Balurghat. This initiative has been taken for quick transport links to various parts of Bengal at a subsidised rate," Mitra said.

The services from Kolkata to Gangasagar will be on every Sundays and one way fare will be Rs 1,500. The booking will start from December 29, he said.

The helicopter services from Kolkata to Durgapur will be on every Mondays and the one way fare will be 2,500, which is an introductory one and bookings will start from December 30.
 

The helicopter services from Kolkata to Malda and Balurghat will be on every Wednesdays and one way fare will be Rs 1,300 and Rs 1,500, respectively. The bookings will start from January 1.

The helicopter services from Kolkata to Shantiniketan via Durgapur will be on every Saturdays and the one way fare will be Rs 1,500.

For helicopter services, the state government will use one twin engine Pawan Hans helicopter, officials said.
