Bengal weather pleasant after rains

The weather of West Bengal remained pleasant today with some parts having received good amount of rainfall since last evening.

Bankura in the western part of the state recorded the highest day temperature at 37.1 degrees Celsius, according to the Met department.

Kolkata recorded the day's highest temperature at 36.2 degrees, followed by Asansol a 35.5 degrees and Sriniketan at 34.4 degrees Celsius.

The metropolis received heavy showers last evening recording 56.2 mm of rainfall within a span of about two hours, leading to water logging and traffic snarls in some parts of the city.

The temperature remained normal in the state capital through the day. Though humidity caused some discomfort.
 

The hills in North Bengal also received good amount of rainfall since yesterday and in Darjeeling the precipitation was recorded at 30.8 mm, the Met department said.

Day and night temperature at the popular hill station stood at 17.3 degrees Celsius and 11.5 degrees Celsius.
