Telecom Engineer-turned-director Ayananshu Banerjee's debut feature film 'Bodhon', which was screened in the Indian Panorama section in the 45th IFFI, has bagged two awards in a US film festival.

"Bodhon follows the narrative style of Tarun Majumder and Tapan Sinha school and not the recent trend of non-linear narrative. Happy that international audiences are introduced to our typical, conventional style of film making this time," Ayananshu told PTI here.

The movie won best feature film and best actor for Arpita Chatterjee in the North Carolina Film festival few days back.

Ayananshu, who had earlier made a self-financed short film 'Caterpillar Has Wings', said the name 'Bodhan' symbolised invocation of Goddess Durga to mark the countdown of the 10-day festival.

"A woman is not getting the due respect in the society and it's good that film makers like me from Bengal are making more woman-centric films. Audiences worldwide should know the positive side of our state, he said.

Arpita, who played the mother in the film said, "Being a mom is one of the hardest jobs anyone can do and it will take you to your very limits sometimes.
