Bengali superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee starrer 'Jaatishwar' was screened for President Pranab Mukherjee at his residence.

The screening of the film, which had a pan India release today, took place on January 15 at Rashtrapati Bhavan Art Theater Basement.

"It is a great honour for me that our President had blocked his time to watch this film. Pranab babu showed keen interest to watch 'Jaatishwar'. He has always been a great patron of art, culture and cinema. We had sent him an official invitation once the film was ready and he immediately responded with an affirmative," Prosenjit said in a statement.

'Jaatishwar' is based on 'Antony Firingee', a cult black-and-white classic released in 1967 with Uttam Kumar and Tanuja in the lead.

The Srijit Mukherjee-directed film got released by Reliance Entertainment in more than 20 cities in the country

"'Jatishwar' was an irresistible opportunity for Reliance Entertainment to co-produce with DAG Creative Media -- the film is a rare combination of Kabir Suman's magical music, Srijit's powerful storytelling and Prosenjit's star power," said Mahesh Ramanathan COO Reliance Entertainment.

The musical also stars Jisshu Sengupta and Swastika Mukherjee in prominent roles.
