Bengali flicks on unique digital merge

In a major move of Bengali films reaching the global audience including North America, the new age flicks will now be available on a Pay-per-View basis for the first time on a unique digital distribution model.

Combining IPTV and DISH Network, it will be part of an exclusive partnership with US' leading ethnic media sales and syndicating agency and Databazar Media the on-demand internet streaming service that provides Movies, TV Shows and Music Videos in over six Indian languages.

"We are delighted that while Databazaar Media is bringing opportunities for Bengali movie producers to reach the huge and rapidly growing Bengali audience in North America, Pathbreaker the premier south asian media syndication, and Databazaar's exclusive syndicating partner, will catalyze the penetration of Bengali movies on pay-per-view model for the first time," Adris Chakraborty of Pathbreaker told PTI from Miami.
 

The movies, that it acquires and distributes, also included a whole lot of popular yet critically acclaimed films in recent times.

"We feel with new-generation exhibition platforms like Smart TVs, digital set-top boxes applications generating more than US $ 19 billion revenue last year with IPTV subscription crossing the 90 million mark, every new, viable digital distribution model will become critical for the Bengali content owners," Oney Seal, Founder & CEO of Databazaar Media said in an e-mail from US.

"Over the last three years we have brought Bengali movies to global Bengalis via every digital platform in a subscription model. With new partnership we also provide a Pay-per-View alternative to Bengali movie-lovers in North America, including alternative flick viewers," he said.

DishWorld IPTV service of DISH Network, serves more than 14.3 million customers in USA and is available on Google Play and other digital platforms in North America.
