West Bengal celebrated 'Poila Baishak', the Bengali New Year 1420, with streams of people visiting the Kali temple at Kalighat and Dakshineswar today.

Several schools and cultural organizations held colourful programmes with girls and boys dressed in traditional saris and dhoti kurta.
Restaurants laid out traditional cuisine from daab chingri, mutton dak bunglow to illish paturi and bhetki paturi to satisfy the taste buds of Bengalis.
