A first year student of the metallurgical department of Bengal Engineering and Science University (BESU) was allegedly ragged by some of his seniors, varsity sources said today.
BESU Registrar Biman Banerjee said the roving squad of the Anti-Ragging committee of BESU has send a report about the alleged ragging of the first year student by some second year students to the vice-chancellor and other senior officials of the institution.
According to the report, the accused took the student to their hostel on the evening of August 22 and ragged him.
Vice-chancellor Ajay Ray has called for a meeting tomorrow to discuss the anti-roving squad report in connection with the incident, Banerjee added.
