Better terms have been achieved in the inter-governmental agreement (IGA) between India and France in terms of pricing, maintenance terms and delivery schedule of 36 Rafale aircraft, the Lok Sabha was told today.

"The 36 Rafale aircraft was being procured in direct fly-away condition under IGA between India and France. In the IGA, better terms have been achieved in terms of pricing, maintenance terms and delivery of schedule," Subhash Bhamre, Minister of State in the Defence Ministry, said in a written reply.

An IGA for the purchase of 36 Rafale jets was signed on September 23, 2016 between India and France.

The Congress has been alleging a "scam" in procurement of the fighter jets, a charge the government has vehemently refuted.
