The Examination Board of Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU) in Bihar today recommended cancellation of law degree of former Delhi Law minister Jitendra Singh Tomar.

The Examination board of the university found the findings of an interim committee constituted on Tomar's degree earlier true and recommended cancellation of the degree, Pro Vice Chancellor A K Rai told PTI.

The Board's recommendation would now go to University Senate for necessary action, Rai said .

If due to some reason Senate whose Chairman is state's Governor Ramnath Kovind, fails to meet, then the recommendation would go to Syndicate and then to the Chancellor, he said.

The interim committee in his report a few months back had found the migration certificate of the former Law minister of Arvind Kejriwal cabinet wrong and on the basis of it had recommended cancellation of the Law degree.

The controversy relates to acquisition of Law degree by the Aam Admi Party MLA and former minister Jitendra Singh Tomar on the basis of a doubtful enrollment at Biswanath Law College in Munger in the academic session 1994-95. He had claimed to have passed the law examination in 1998-99.

Tomar was arrested and later released on bail last year in the Law degree issue and had to resign from the Kejriwal ministry.
