A delegation of Bhakra Dam oustees in Bilaspur Nagar, led by MLA Subhash Thakur, today called on Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur to apprise him of their problems and pressed for a new rehabilitation policy.
The delegation told the chief minister that the oustees had provided their prime land for construction of Bhakra Dam but were still facing hardships due to non-availability of proper land for their rehabilitation.
They said that only 900 to 1800 square feet plots were awarded to the oustees which were inadequate for their proper rehabilitation.
The delegation urged Thakur to frame a new policy for rehabilitation of the oustees as the old policy framed by the previous government had "not done justice" to them.
The chief minister assured the delegation of considering their demands "sympathetically".
