Bhaley Dunga Skywalk project would be reality soon: Sikkim CM

Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling expressed hope that the Skywalk project at Bhaley Dhunga in South Sikkim district would be a reality soon.

"The Skywalk project at Bhaley Dunga is very close to my heart as I have spent a good part of my childhood in the area and I hope that it becomes a reality soon," Chamling said last evening during the Power Point Presentation of the proposed Skywalk organized by state Tourism and Civil Aviation department.

Sikkim Governor Shrinivas Patil who was also present on the occasion expressed his desire to be the first person to walk across the Bhaley Dhunga Skywalk and hoped that it will come into existence within his tenure as the Governor of Sikkim.
 

Patil said when the Skywalk will come into existence and with Maansarovar gate opened from Nathula pass, an unprecedented number of visitors will be visiting Sikkim and this will give huge opportunity to the youth and the younger generation of the state for sustainable source of employment.

French Company POMA who are international leaders in Rope ways, Lochsa Engineering who were responsible for creating Grand Canyon Skywalk in the United States and K K Group, an Indian company have been entrusted with creating Skywalk at Bhaley Dhunga in South Sikkim.

During their presentation the companies informed that they have finished the detail survey of the Bhaley Dhunga area.

Bill Karren, principal engineer who was responsible for engineering the Grand Canyon Sky Walk of the USA informed that the scenic beauty of Bhaley Dunga area is much better than that of Grand Canyon and when the Skywalk in Bhaley Dhunga is constructed it will arguably be the best Skywalk of the world.
