Bharat Electrical to set up plant in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh

State run Bharat Electrical Ltd plans to set up a major defence sector project in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh at an investment of Rs 1,500 crore.

A delegation of Bharat Electrical (BEL) officials today met Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu here and sought allotment of 1,000 acres of land for the project, an official release said.

It is expected to provide about 500 jobs to locals. It would also pave way for ancillary units in the automobile and transport sectors.

The BEL has also sought land for the expansion of its unit at Machilipatnam, the release said.

Noting that the IR Lenses produced by the company have a very high demand, the company officials said the lenses were used even during the Kargil War by the Army.
 

The Chief Minister assured that he would speak to the Land Administration Commissioner regarding the allotment, the release added.
