Bharat Ratna for Vajpayee, Malviya "historic" decision: BJP

The BJP Parliamentary Board today passed a resolution expressing its deep sense of gratitude to the government for its "historic" decision to confer Bharat Ratna on two "great nationalists" - Madan Mohan Malviya and former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

"BJP Parliamentary Board expresses its deep sense of gratitude towards the Govt of India for its historic decision of conferring Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award, on two of the great sons of Bharatmata, freedom-fighter and great nationalist Pt Madan Mohan Malviya and former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

"By this decision, the govt has not only respected the desire of millions of Indians but also gave expression to the sense of deep respect in the minds of all countrymen towards these two great national heroes. This is a fitting salutation to both Mahamana ji and Atal ji for their unique contribution and unflinching commitment to the cause of the people of India," the resolution read.
 

The Parliamentary Board meeting was chaired by BJP chief Amit Shah and attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
