Shares of Bharti Airtel ended marginally lower today on profit-booking even as telecom tribunal TDSAT set aside Rs 650 crore penalty imposed by DoT on the company.

After rising 2.18 per cent to Rs 362 in intra-day trade, shares of Bharti Airtel finally ended 0.21 per cent lower at Rs 353.50 on the BSE.

At the NSE, it closed at Rs 353.40, down 0.21 per cent from its previous close.

TDSAT had yesterday set aside Rs 650 crore penalty on Airtel imposed by DoT in a roaming case.

The DoT had issued demand notice of Rs 650 crore to Airtel in July 2013.

The DoT had found Bharti Airtel routing national and international calls as local calls (SLD) under a scheme till 2005 despite being told to stop it in 2003, and that it caused loss to the government exchequer and state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) across 13 service areas.

Meanwhile, the broader market also saw sluggish trade with the benchmark Sensex closing 34.09 points up at 27,831.10.
