Union minister Uma Bharti today urged the government to implement the recommendations of National Commission for the Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes (NCDNSNT) at the earliest.

The commission has recommended inclusion of different denotified, nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes into the list of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Castes, according to a press release.

However, due to the complicated process, the inclusion of these tribes has been very slow over the years, the release said.

Bharti was speaking at the national conference of denotified, nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes here today, it said.

"These communities have a population of over 15 crore including the tribes of Lodha, Lohar, Sanchi, Bawariya, Gujjar, Nishad, Pal and over 300 different communities. The recommendations of the commission should be implemented at the earliest.

"I will raise the issue with the prime minister and the home minister so that the people of these communities do not have to face hardships anymore," the drinking water and sanitation minister said.

The central government had established National Commission for the Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes in 2014.
