34-year-old Bhatia, who has a degree in Finance and Computer Application from the US besides a law degree from Lucknow University, will be representing the state in the apex court.
Bhatia, who is the son of former advocate general and Rajya Sabha MP, late Virendra Bhatia, is also the Assistant Secretary of the Supreme Court Bar association and a close aide of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
During the previous regime, Bhatia was at the forefront of various lawyers' agitation against the Mayawati government.
