National award-winning filmmaker Bhavna Talwar is directing her first international project, a feature adaptation of children's classic "Heidi", starring veteran British actor Bill Nighy in the lead role.
Titled "Heidi- Queen of the mountains", the film is being produced by producers Sheetal Talwar and Simon Wright.
Talwar, who won numerous accolades for her debut film "Dharm", said she immediately agreed to direct the feature after Wright gave her the script.

"Simon Wright, producer, had approached me with the film and I thought it was a great opportunity and agreed to do the film. I had read the Heidi series much earlier and with the film am keen on presenting a contemporary interpretation of the story," Talwar said in a statement.
The first movie adaptation of the Heidi trilogy is written by writer-producer Paul Watson. It has been filmed on location in the UK and with interior work schedule to be shot in India.
Nighy is a Golden Globe and BAFTA winning actor and is best known for his roles in "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel", "Love Actually".
Apart from Nighy, the movie also stars Mark Williams of "Harry Potter" fame, Emilia Fox known for her work in 'The Pianist' and 'Friends' star Helen Baxendale.
