'Bhog', 'Antim Ardas' of Moga assault victim performed

A large number of people from all walks of life including, including politicians, today attended the 'Bhog' ceremony of the teenage girl here who was molested and pushed to death from a moving bus, co-owned by the ruling Badal family, on April 29.

The 'Bhog' ceremony and the 'Antim Ardas' was performed for victim girl at her Landeke village here.

Prominent among those present included senior Congress leader Captain Amarinder Singh, Punjab Congress President Partap Singh Bajwa, Punjab cabinet minister Tota Singh, ex-Lok Sabha MP Vijay Inder Singla, and Indian Youth Congress Chief Amarinder Sngh Raja Warring.

Besides, senior civil and police officials were also present on this occasion. The arrangements for holding 'Bhog' ceremony were made by the district police.
 

The teenage girl was molested and pushed to death from a moving bus along with her mother here which turned out to be major embarrassment for ruling Akali Dal as the bus from which the duo was thrown off belonged to the Badal family.

This incident sparked widespread protest against the Badal government while political parties and social organisations had demanded criminal case against the bus owners.

Under fire over this shocking incident, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal had ordered all buses of Orbit Aviation taken off the road.

The girl's body was consigned to flames at her village Landeke on May 3 after her father agreed to conducting of post-mortem and cremation of the body, besides accepting the offer of compensation and a government job.
