The Bihar State Human Rights Commission (BHRC) today directed the Additional Director General of Police, CID to depute the Nodal IG/DIG, CID with an action taken report on May 2 in connection with illegal detention of two persons for seven days last year.
BHRC member Neelmani gave the direction after taking exception of non-compliance of its February 3 order, directing the Vaishali police and the ADG, CID to get the allegations inquired by a CID team and apprise the Commission of action taken in this regard by March 15.
A woman, Chinta Devi, had complained to BHRC that her son Manish Kumar Singh and his friend Suraj Kumar were kept in detention at Town police station and assaulted by police officers for seven days last year.
She also alleged that the two were sent to jail on December 2 in a fabricated case by the local police.
According to her complaint, Manish had demanded that a person, Prem Prakash Singh, should return to him a sum of Rs 3 lakh which he had taken to give Manish's elder brother a job. But the elder brother was murdered.
Now the policemen wanted to silence Manish as Prem Prakash Singh has links with them, Chinta Devi said in her complaint.
