Condemning the statement of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the killing of a student at Sabong College, local Congress MLA Manas Bhunia today said he would stage a sit-in-demonstration in front of the college and later go on fast if the culprits were not arrested.

"I condemn the statement of our chief minister. I'll organise a sit-in-demonstration outside the Sabong college on Monday. And if the culprits are not arrested I'll sit on fast in Kolkata," Bhunia, also a former WBPCC president said.

Referring to the recent killing of a Congress' students' wing Chatra Parishad member in the college, the chief minister Mamata Banerjee had said yesterday "It is really sad and we don't want any death. I even called up a Congress leader to express my condolences.

"Later I came to know from the police that the situation is different. Why were sticks and rods stored in students' union room? A ploy is on to malign the TMCP," she had said.

The Congress leadership has accused the Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) of being involved in the killing of the student.
