"Is there any way out on the issue of FDI in multibrand retail? Won't the stance help small retailers ultimately?," the former Bengal Irrigation minister told a rally at Das Darga, 19 km from Jalpaiguri town, this evening.
"Please don't get angry on such policy decisions by the Centre. Our economy is strong, if necessary you can always sit with the PM and have a talk in cool brain instead of sitting at Jantar Mantar," Bhuniya said at the meeting referring to the recent Trinamool dharna in national capital.
Expressing 'regret' for her "act to imitate the PM on a national tv channel interview", Bhuniya said "this was unfortunate and uncalled for."
"You are going hammer and tongs at the goverment at Centre but again asking for package to bail out the state, economic condition of which has worsened since the erstwhile left front regime," Bhuniya, who had recently resigned from the Mamata government, said.
Jalpaiguri MLA Sukhavilas Verma and several district leaders were present at the party meeting.
