Bhutan's Prime Minister has recommended the sacking of Foreign Minister Rinzin Dorje following a corruption case against him, though he has been acquitted in the case by a court.

A recommendation from the Cabinet to remove Dorje has been submitted to King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, state-run Bhutan Broadcasting Service quoted Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay's office as saying.

The current Home Minister Damcho Dorji will now be shifted to foreign ministry, while Bongo-Chapcha MP, Dawa Gyeltshen will be made the new Home Minister.

The decision to sack the Foreign Minister was taken following his alleged links with the Lhakhang Karpo conservation project scam.

The Haa District court had acquitted Rinzin Dorje of the charges of abuse of powers and embezzlement of public property on June 23.

However, on July 7, the Office of the Attorney General submitted an appeal against Haa District Court's judgement on the acquittal of the Foreign Minister and the project manager in the case.
