Bhutanese Ambassador to India meets Assam CM

Bhutanese Ambassador to India Maj Gen Vetsop Namgyel today called on Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal here and the two made a strong pitch for the growth of the entire region.

The chief minister and the ambassador discussed issues such as cultural and sporting exchanges and tapping of tourism potential of Assam and Bhutan, an official release said here.

Informing Namgyel about the two-day Global Investors' Summit to be held here from February 3, Sonowal invited Bhutan to participate in the event.

Namgyel also expressed his country's keen interest to participate in the summit.

Bhutan is looking forward to tap Assam's tourism destinations considering its sprawling tea gardens, unique and colourful culture and national parks, he said.
 

Sonowal said Assam can also develop and promote various sports in the Himalayan country.

The Ambassador invited Sonowal to visit Bhutan which he accepted in principle, the release added.
