Bhutan's Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay has invited West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to visit his country, according to Consul-General of Bhutan in Kolkata Dashi Karma Tsering Namgyal.
Namgyal today personally handed over the invitation from Tobgay to the chief minister at the state secretariat.
"We are waiting for the confirmation and we have requested the chief minister that it should be at a mutually convenient date," Namgyal said at a programme.

He said that business would definitely come up in the talks between the two leaders and it would be a 'positive' for both.
"Proximity counts and the immediate state next to Bhutan is West Bengal. We have benefitted from our relation with West Bengal. It will be a very good beginning for starting such visits at a larger scale," he added.
Asked in which areas Bhutan would seek investments from West Bengal, Namgyal said "we will like to look at agriculture and industries whatever is viable in Bhutan. There are avenues for investments in the IT sector apart from education, consultancy, food processing units in Bhutan.
"While we welcome businesses, we will definitely keep in mind the environmental aspects. They have to be within the ambit of the environment preservations and the laws that are invoked in the country."
He said "we import a lot of raw materials with regard to all industries which exist in Bhutan.
