Bickram Ghosh to perform in Sri Lanka

Tabla maestro Bickram Ghosh will perform in Sri Lanka at an event organised by the Indian High Commission to celebrate the 70th anniversary of India's Independence here.

The Grammy-nominated percussionist will play along with his fusion band Rhythmscape at the function.

"To celebrate 70 years of independence of India - India@70 - the High Commission of India is organising a special event on August 15 in Colombo, featuring performance by legendary percussion maestro Pandit Bickram Ghosh and his fusion band Rhythmscape," a release read.

The band will explore the journey of Indian classical music to contemporary fusion form during their performance.
 

The event will also witness performances by other renowned artistes such as Subramaniam Sekhar on mridangam, Pulak Sarkar on keyboard, Ambarish Das on vocals, Abhisek Mallick on sitar, Satayajit Mukherjee on drums and Shamik Guha Roy on the percussion.
