Big fire rages through hamleet in Siang district, 45 houses

Hundreds of villagers were rendered homeless after a huge fire blazed through Payum village in Siang district on late March 26 night and raged for two days.

Altogether 45 houses were completely burnt down in the inferno, but the exact cause of the accident could not be ascertained.

The villagers are reported to be facing acute shortage of food items and other basic requirements as the place is 18 km away from the nearest motorable road which is Molo Camp.

Superintendant of police Doge Jini informed that a team has been dispatched for inspection.

Meanwhile Siang DC N Lego directed the ADC Rumgong to provide immediate relief to the fire victims and asses the loss.
