Bihar BJP launches membership drive

The Bihar unit of BJP today launched a membership drive amid much fanfare in view of the Assembly elections scheduled to be held next year.

Bihar party president Mangal Pandey became the first member in the state after paying a fee of Rs 5.

Members in the saffron party are made for six years and the membership of the persons who would join it during this drive would last till 2020.

The BJP is aiming at having 50 lakh members in the state with a focus in recruiting youths, women and people from SC, ST, OBC and Extremely Backward Castes, Pandey said.
 

"We believe we will achieve the target of having 50 lakh members. Those who wish can apply online or give a missed call on our toll free number," he said.

He said the auditorium at BJP state headquarters has been named after former Union Minister Kailashpati Mishra, whose birth anniversary would be celebrated on November 3.

Besides Pandey, senior leaders like Sushil Kumar Modi, Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh and Leader of Opposition in Bihar Legislative Assembly Nand Kishore Yadav were present at the programme.
