Veteran CPM leader and third term MLC Basudeo Singh died today after prolonged illness, Legislative Council chairman Awdesh Narayan Singh said.
Singh (80), who is survived by a son and a daughter, passed away at AIIMS hospital in New Delhi.
He was born at Chandpura village of Begusarai in 1932.

The veteran CPM leader was a sitting member of Legislative Council for the third consecutive time. He had served as CPM MLA from Begusarai from 1990-95.
Singh was not keeping good health in recent days. He had ealier fainted in the Legislative Council recently after which he was taken to Delhi's AIIMS for treatment.
Condoling his death, Chairman Awdesh Narayan Singh described him as a great social worker and a dedicated communist leader.
State CPM Secretary Vijaykant Thakur said the party has lost a sincere and committed communist leader.
The departed leader had associated himself with Communist party since 1946.
