Bihar draws up contingency plan to tackle drought

Addressing NDA leggislators at his residence last evening, Kumar said the subsidy on diesel would help farmers irrigate their cropland during Kharif season.

Asking the MLAs o camp in their respective constituencies soon after the monsoon session of the state legislature was over, Kumar asked them keep a watch on the quantum of rainfall and transplantation of paddy seedlings.

A drought-like situation was prevailing in the state due to deficient rains, he said.

Twenty-five of the 38 districts in the state were affected by drought and Bihar is facing natural calamity for the fourth year in succession.
