Bihar govt to issue 3.75 lakh soil health card in 2012-13

Soil samples and its laboratory analyses were going on to provide soil health card to 3.59 lakh farmers in 2012-13, Singh said answering a question of Vasudeo Singh (CPI) in the Legislative Council.

The soil health card which would provide information about fertility of the soil through anaylsis of nutrients contents would help the farmers in enhancing production in their field, he said.

The minister said 2.10 lakh soil testing have been completed in the current year.

The minister said that state government is promoting organic farming and compost to check damage to the soil due to excessive use of chemical fertilisers.
