The Bihar Legislative Council was adjourned till tomorrow noon after BJP legislators created ruckus today over the Khagaria incident, in which musclemen attacked people belonging to Scheduled Caste, demolished their hutments and allegedly committed atrocities on women.

As the post-lunch session began with Chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh in the chair, BJP MLCs raised the issue and informed him that they had moved an adjournment motion on it.

The Chairman continued with the proceedings of the House at which the BJP members started shouting slogans against the state government and trooped into the Well.

Ruling JD(U) MLCs tried to counter them with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'DNA remark' on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during the former's Muzaffarpur visit on July 25.

But, the din did not subside and the Chairman left the House after adjourning the session till tomorrow noon.

Condemning the Khagaria incident, Leader of Opposition in the Council and former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi later said it was a blot on the state government.

Sushil also alleged the government did not take strict action against the accused and tried to keep the incident under wraps and demanded justice for the victims in the incident.
