An Independent MLA in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district today registered a complaint with the police that she has got a Rs one-crore extortion threat from outlawed Maoists.

Independent MLA from Bochaha (reserved seat) Baby Kumari in her complaint with Mithanpura Police cited an SMS sent to her.

The Officer In-charge of Mithanpura police station Kiran Kumar said an FIR has been registered in this connection.

Kumari in her written complaint said that the Maoists had sent an SMS to her demanding Rs one crore extortion money failing which she would be killed.

The OC said the police were looking into the matter.

Kumari, a first-time legislator, had emerged as giant killer in the recently concluded Bihar election by defeating former minister and nine term JD(U) MLA Ramai Ram from Bochha (reserved, SC) seat in Muzaffarpur district.
