Bihar's foundation day on March 23 would be celebrated as 'voters awareness day' this year in the state.
The education department in association with Election Commission would adminster oath to children of 73,000 government schools that they would ensure that their parents cast vote in the elections, Principal Secretary Education Amarjeet Sinha told reporters today.
He said more than 40,000 schools in Bihar are used for balloting as well other poll related works. Hence the oath function was aimed at children inspiring their parents to use their voting rights for strengthening democracy.

Sinha said a request has been made to election office to engage schools for minimum period for election work so that studies are not disturbed for long.
Bihar Day is celebrated on March 23, marking formation of new state carved out of Bengal province by the British empire in 1912.
The Principal Secretary Education said that several social and cultural events aimed at generating awareness against social evils like dowry, child marriage and female infanticide would be organised during two-day Bihar day celebration.
