"The special category status is the right of Bihar and its people will continue to agitate to press for a fair and justified demand", he told reporters.
Kumar said that the state government had studied the Inter-Ministerial Group (IMG) report obtained under the RTI and its finding before rejection of Bihar's demand for according special status.
"We have urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to set up an experts committee to re-visit the special status demand", he said, adding that he had requested Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh to articulate Bihar's case for special status.
Bihar fulfilled all the criteria other than not being a hilly region to fit the bill for special status, its per capita investment and industrial development was an abysmal low, Kumar said.
Stating a number of respected economists have also backed the demand, he said, all those states which fulfilled the criteria should be accorded special status.
