Describing Rahul Gandhi as 'a youth icon of the entire country', Kumar said the country was looking with 'great expectations' at the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.

''It is because of Rahul Gandhi's image and his hard work that Congress has regained its lost prestige and moorings in the states where the regional parties have emerged,'' Kumar said at a seminar 'Role of Youths in Politics' organised by Bankipur unit of Youth Congress.

He admitted that the growth of regional parties in the states had weakened the national parties to some extent and asked Youth Congress workers to spread the policies and ideology of the party to the grass roots level.

He also appealed to YC workers to come forward and work under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi to build up a new Bihar.

Patna University Senate Member Rohit Kumar, and several others including prof Sudhakar Singh, Prof Sanjay Jasiwal, Shashi Ranjan, Gita Kumari and Sujit Kumar Sinha also spoke.
